Marketing in a New Venture
Today is a totally different day to the extent correspondence goes. We live in the period of NOW! Over are the days when one needs to sit tight for a letter from a companion, go to the supermarket before it closes or rush to the bank before it closes to pay a bill.â These advances accompany set backs, for example, tricks. I have had a few messages sent to me about winning a lottery that I have never played.â Such individuals ask on the desperate and ignorant.â They sneak anyplace from messages to work postings.â I should state, I regard Craigslist for having alerts and permitting a presenting on be hailed on the off chance that it appears at all suspicious.â The craigslist group has invested a lot of energy to limit such endeavors. I have not seen this on numerous different locales. Craigslist has a notoriety of being the ââ¬Ëgo toââ¬â¢ spot for work, gigs and events.â If they were not cautious about such things, they would most likely lose a great deal of business. This powers organizations to endeavor to in any event show up legitimate.â It additionally puts another curve on ââ¬Ëlet the purchaser beware.ââ¬â¢Ã¢ With such a large number of tricks on the web, it is very hard to consider a spade a spade.â The alerts from Craigslist empower the shopper toâ settle on an educated choice and presumably be less inclined to manage organizations unbelievable by most. It additionally enables the regular person by maybe inciting him to make that additional move to contactâ theâ Better Business Bureau or purchaser issues to confirm the authenticity of these companies.â As an eager client of craigslist, I am leary of questionable terms utilized in ads.â Such promotions I timid away from.â I have run over advertisements that have been hailed and it causes me to feel that different clients are paying special mind to each other.â Craigslist makes a feeling of comraderie and the security in the older sibling is watching hypothesis. It has a collective vibe and if that isn't what they were going for, it is certainly not an awful symptom. I had never known about craigslist until a companion of mine referenced it to me. When I went on it, I was snared. I burned through less time on spam in camouflage on the grounds that the network was paying special mind to me.â I learned of it by listening in on others' conversations, which is maybe the manner in which some different administrations would benefit.â For instance, a help for home recharging would profit by expression of mouth.â It is absolutely the idea of the medium that recommends this.â Let us state that we are aware of a birth.â The new mother will be unable to get around and may need her staple goods conveyed. I may inform her regarding it. Maybe a companion broke his leg on a ski trip and can't get around so well, I may talk about it then.â Maybe numerous understudies are reading for a last and are so captivated in the examinations that we can't enjoy a reprieve. I may recommend it at that point.â It is the kind of element that requires a circumstance to consider using the service.â Another circumstance, for example, a graduation (occasion) loans itself effectively to viral marketing.â Requiring those that I have messaged to react RSVP will give the facilitating site data a promoting rundown and some of them will participate in such an event.â A support of permit approaching understudies to make individual pages, sorted out by their foundations, may profit by listening in on others' conversations showcasing with restricted viral advertising. Since it is sorted out by the foundation, it limits access to those that are not aware of the institutional benefits. A help utilizing a gadget to gaze upward scanner tags can profit by bootstrapping.â The things that are being looked into will likely connect to the organization or producer of such products.â They thusly will send comparable item messages to the individual turning upward the products.â This may bring about customary showcasing, for example, coupons and mailings with a moment direct promoting list.

Government Censorship Theory: Government Censorship would harm the air of the opportunity to communicate thoughts on the Internet; consequently, government ought not support restriction. The Internet is a great spot of amusement and training however like all spots utilized by a large number of individuals, it has some cloudy corners individuals would incline toward youngsters not to investigate. In the physical world society in general contrives to ensure youngsters, yet there are no social or physical limitations to Internet surfing. The Internet Censorship Bill of 1995, otherwise called the Exon/Coats Communications Decency Act, has been presented in the U.S. Congress. It would make it a criminal offense to make accessible to kids whatever is revolting, or to send anything foul with plan to disturb, misuse, compromise, or hassle (Stop the Correspondences ... n.p.). Lambda Tea
Lambda Tea There are times when I feel incredibly lucky to exist in close proximity to so many creative and amazing individuals, and right now is one of them. I present to you: A BOBA MACHINE LOOK AT THIS MIRACLE THAT HAS DESCENDED TO EARTH The machine is the brainchild of MITâs very own startup Lambda Tea, and the three wonderful human beings responsible for its creation are Catherine Zeng â20, Robert Henning â20, and Jingwei Ma â20 (pictured below from left to right). When Jingwei invited me to Lambda Teaâs grand opening, my second reaction was, âWow, a boba machine is literally the most useful thing ever, why hasnât anybody thought of that?â (My first reaction was, of course, âHOLY CRAP BOBA MACHINEâ) So after their grand opening and some debugging, I asked them some questions about how and why they decided to create basically the best thing ever. The Lambda Tea team originally received funding from Sandbox (an MIT seed-funding initiative for its students) for another idea they had (âlike Uber but for contracting workâ), but they didnât really believe in it enough to follow up on it. Then one day, Robert happened to be in Chinatown and was walking by Tea-do (one of Bostonâs very few boba shops) when he realized that the job the shop workers were doing could very reasonably be mechanized. After all, boba is just a drink, and drinks are made with certain proportions of certain ingredients. Making a machine that mixes and vends boba would be far cheaper and less labor-intensive. So for the last month, the Lambda Tea team worked every day from 12 2 (AM) to create their machine. They wound up going through over 50 recipes and had some amusing situations with drilling through a refrigerator, but eventually put together a fully functional and very wonderful boba machine. The machine itself is a refrigerator which has a Samsung Galaxy tablet mounted on the front. The tablet itself is connected by USB to an Arduino, and the interface is run on an Amazon Web Services server. Customers buy boba through an app, which allows you to Venmo money to Lambda Teaâs account. Once the account confirms that the money has been received, the machine will vend your boba for you! Lambda Tea plans to expand beyond the grounds of East Campus and ask some of the clubs at MIT to use their boba for fundraisers, a development that I am personally pretty excited about. In the meantime, current students should drop by First East at East Campus to try some Lambda Tea boba. Can confirm itâs the BEST. Post Tagged #East Campus

Comparison Between Lady Macbeth And The Wife Of Bath
Ambition is a key theme in both William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Macbeth and Geoffrey Chaucerââ¬â¢s The Wife of Bath. This essay will focus on the contrast in ambitions between Lady Macbeth and The Wife of Bath. I will argue that whereas Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s uncertain ambition that stems from her preoccupation with her maternal qualities ââ¬â and her apparent inabilities to bear children, the Wife of Bath is liberated and appears to relish her status as an independent woman unconcerned with child bearing, ââ¬Ëa motherââ¬â¢s unique biological functionââ¬â¢ , and, it could be argued, finds ambition in seeking marriage and the rewards that it brings. Lady Macbeth is initially depicted as a character whose ambition is seen to act in her own interests. In Act 1, Scene 5,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦From this, it could be argued that Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s femininity is unusually applied in an attempt to serve this undiminishing ambition. Similarly, in The Wife of Bath, the eponymous wifeââ¬â¢s ambition is depicted in a way that benefits her. She is depicted as having great confidence. Vladislava VanÃâºÃ kovà ¡ argues that ââ¬ËThe Wife of Bath is certainly not a model for motherhoodââ¬â¢. In fact, there is no reference made to the Wifeââ¬â¢s maternal status. From this it could be argued that, unlike Lady Macbeth, the Wife is not preoccupied with maternity and this liberates her, enabling her to engage in more sexually promiscuous behaviour. Sheila Delaney argues that the Wife ââ¬Ëbears fruit not in children, but in profit â⬠¦ [marriage] settlements and land inheritances from her husbandsââ¬â¢. In line 28 of the Prologue, the Wife states that ââ¬ËGod bad for us to wexe and multiplyeââ¬â¢, suggesting that the need to ââ¬Ëbear fruitââ¬â¢ is incredibly powerful. The use of ââ¬ËGodââ¬â¢ has divine connotations, amplifying the intensity of the perceived need to possess ambition. However, bearing Delanyââ¬â¢s interpretation in mind, the request to ââ¬Ëmultiplyeââ¬â¢, with its connotations of abundance, suggests an incessant desire and could be an ironic reference to biological multiplication through reproduction, suggesting the Wifeââ¬â¢s ambition is to find sexual partners for material rather than biological gain. Furthermore, it can be suggested that her ambition is motivated by her lack of concern with conformity motherly qualities,Show MoreRelatedSleep and Rest In Macbeth Essay1787 Words à |à 8 PagesIn William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËMacbethââ¬â¢ sleep is a very significant aspect of the play which is portrayed by many references to it and occurrences that result in sleep deprivation. Who Has the Most Accurate Weather Forecast
When it comes to checking your weather forecast, which weather service provider do you trust the most? If youre not sure, or interested in finding one that might work out for you, take a look at these weather services that repeatedly come out on top for accuracy. For most people,à choosing AccuWeather, The Weather Channel, or Weather Underground might be a good idea especially if youre a snob about air temperatures. All three of these weather apps were the best at getting the nations one-day to five-day high temperatures rightââ¬âthat is, they consistently forecast them within three degrees of accuracy. Why Not All Sizes Fit All Keep in mind, these apps are among the best for most, but not all.à These weather appsà may not be theà most accurate for you, personally. Each of these apps ranks as the most reliable for most locations across the United States. The accuracy of your forecast depends largely on where you live. One reason why a weather service providers forecasts may (or may not) be reliable for your city has to do with how that organization arrives at their forecasts. Weather providers each have a unique recipe. They all largely base their forecasts on the computer models provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but after that, there is no standard formula. Some services base their weather predictions solely on these computer models. Others use a mix of computers with a dash of human meteorologist skill and gut instinct sprinkled in. At times, computers do a better job at forecasting, and at other times you need a human to improve upon that data. It is the human element that factors in why predictive accuracy varies from location to location and from week to week. A second reason is that your location may be too localized. Most forecasts are generated for major metropolitan areas across the U.S., so if you live along the city outskirts or in a rural area, it is possible that your hyper-local weather may not be getting captured. As more companies allow users to share real-time via their mobile devices, called weather crowd-sourcing, this data gap may becomeà less of a hindrance. Which Serviceà Is Most Accurate for You? If youre curious to know which major weather providers give the most accurate forecasts where you live, tryà ForecastAdvisor. The website lets you plug in your zip code and will show you how closely forecasts from The Weather Channel, WeatherBug, AccuWeather, Weather Underground, NWS, and others matched the actual weather observed for your area over the last month and year.à Feel Like Your Forecast Is Always Wrong? Did you try Forecast Advisor and were you surprised to see which services rank as best for your city mostly because none of them ever seem to get it right? Dont be so quick to blame your weather provider. There are a couple of reasons why the weather outside your window may rarely seem to match up with the current or forecast conditions showing on your app. And, it is not always related to accuracy. It has to do with where the weather station is and how often the app (or your device) updates. Youre may be too far away from the closest weather station. Most observations that weather forecasts and apps use come from airports across the U.S., so if you are 10 miles from the closest airport, thenà your forecast may say theres light rain (and there may be at the airport) but it could be dry at your location. In some cases, the weather observations may not have updated. Usually, most weather observations are taken hourly. So if its raining at 10 a.m., but not at 10:50 a.m., then your current observation may be incorrect. You should also check your refresh time, too. Hate Weather Apps Entirely? If you have been let down by weather apps one too many times and have given up, all hope is not lost. If you want the most up-to-date picture of whats happening weatherwise, a good thing to do is check your localà weather radar. Your local weather radar shouldà update automatically every few minutes.

Using Mooc to Improve Rural Education Free Essays
* Using MOOC to upgrade Education in Rural Areas UNISA has made distance learning a common practise in South Africa. Itââ¬â¢s position is entrenched more so after the 2004 merger with Technikon RSA. The next evolution in distance learning beyond e-learning or computer-based training is Massive Open Online Courses or MOOC. We will write a custom essay sample on Using Mooc to Improve Rural Education or any similar topic only for you Order Now This is made possible with the pervasiveness of broadband Internet. MOOC is a virtual delivery model that allows participation in learning activities at convenient places and times, rather than forcing students into set time frames; blended learning, which can facilitate widespread, often global collaboration with other students and teams of specialized instructors (Bujak,K,R, et al, 2012). Recently we enrolled for three modules on Coursera. org. The initial appeal to using this platform was the flexible time schedules and immediate access via the Internet. Weââ¬â¢ve already opted out of one and there was no real downside because there was no financial commitment in contrast to traditional universities. Benefits for Teaching E-learning has been around since the earliest stages of the Internet. It is well know the origins of this global inter-connected network began in the military and expanded quickly into academic research facilities in the US before becoming available to the general public in the 1990s. Expanding access to and the availability of e-learning programmes for students, teachers and government is an important step in furthering continental development and growth (Rupp, 2012). Even though Rupp (2012) points out the availability of e-learning technologies provides expanded opportunities for countries in Africa to make education available to their whole population. Clearly these same information and communication technologies (ICTs) allow students from the rural or remote areas to access opportunities for scholarships to academic institutions they may not otherwise have identified. * Benefits for Learning MOOC introduces students to a new type of experience called ââ¬Å"Blended Learningâ⬠by Bujak,K,R, et al. (2012). It combines face-to-face interactions with communication enabled by ICTs. A key consideration is that ICTs compliment not replace traditional pedagogy. Whereas e-learning was online only experience, more blending the online and offline experience takes shape in self organised groups meeting similar to traditional self organised groups of students who attend the same campus, except this takes place even easier in the virtual world. Initial research suggests that students are not only accepting blended learning approaches, but also they are improving learning outcomes. * Conclusion Two challenges reduce the adoption of MOOC. Firstly they do not lead to a widely recognized credentials and workable revenue models are not available at present (King, J. W. Nanfito, M. 2012). Until both are addressed by institutions and investors in the platforms, MOOC, may be a blip on the radar and future of online learning solutions. Even though MOOC have caused well established institutions from UCT in South Africa and MIT in United States to invest resources, clear impact in Africa continent remain limited. One segment that stands the most to gain, are people who do not gain entry to traditional universities for reasons financial or otherwise. Internet literacy will delay the adoption further among the rest of the population in Africa irrespective of the availability of broadband Internet. As with all technological innovations MOOC will take a number a few years before we know whether it is viable platform or not. * Reference Bujak,K,R, Baker, P. , DeMillo, R. Evaluation of Strategies to Stabilize and Integrate
Question: Discuss about the Evaluation of Strategies to Stabilize and Integrate. Answer: Introduction: I chose to prepare a reflection diary on the research I conducted. On something that is hardly talked about, a topic that is considered ugly, yes I decided to carry out research on human trafficking, I would state that my perspectives on the subject have changed. I wanted to find out why human trafficking cases are falling through the cracks. In the wake of taking a gander at heaps of terrible stories about children and women are being mishandled, trafficked and utilized as property, it's a touch of dispiriting to acknowledge how sinful and immoral people are. It is not necessarily the case that all people are malevolent yet it's difficult to peruse one good thing (like ladies getting away from their captors) when there are such a variety of more stories about how these individuals' trusts are exploited and they're sold like nothing but cattle. I found out no country is safe and this evil side is a global problem. I accept and others will too, that stopping human trafficking is not an easy task and hard to diminish from society. Challenges During conducting research, I faced lack of cooperation from the victims, considering the fact their statements, experiences means a lot and indeed the most essential element of investigation. I tried to speak to one of the victims, but he was so terrified to share what he went through, he was irresponsive as he thought I might belong to some law enforcement agency trying to interview him. This made me ponder great responsibility lies with our agencies to minimize to stop human trafficking. But I am not sure if law implementation authorities have adequate assets to prepare, staff, and research human trafficking cases, particularly watch officers and other specialists on call destined to experience human trafficking circumstances. The report likewise found that lack of trauma informed interviewing techniques limit backed off distinguishing proof of cases. I also had hard time as Gender issues significantly affected my capacity to obtain information. Trafficked women often suffer sexual abuse and violence and were reluctant to seek assistance because of the shame and hesitant to look for help and support my research. It was challenging task for me to compile the facts and figures related to particular chosen topic, with many hurdles and obstacles, somehow I managed to come up with facts and figures that I have presented in the report. Why it happens? The extensive research enabled me to summarize to reason behind. The ugliest thing in the world, why does it happens? I am embarrassed to say! Our current worldwide monetary framework keeps on compensating riches and endeavor poor people. Constrained work, acquired from either sex or labor trafficking, earns about $150 billion in in unlawful benefits each year in the private economy, as indicated by the International Labor Organization. In the wake of coordinating gatherings with a couple people I found that sex trafficking particularly, is connected with the women falling of poverty. 70% of the world's poor are women and young women, a substantial bit of who live in making countries with obliged decisions open to them. Social standards that incite unevenness and fierceness against these ladies and young ladies frequently make them vulnerable against sex and work trafficking. According to International Labor Organization, girls and women make up fifty-five percent of human traffickin g victims. How Social Workers can deal with Human Trafficking When I examined the role and contribution a social worker can make related to Human Trafficking, this is a great responsibility and chance one can have to make an impact or probably to leave a mark. Most common ways by which they can play their part are: By raising awareness campaigns. The social worker should intend to educate and capacitate other professionals to play role with trafficking information in order to render quality services to trafficked children. This means that, in addition to social workers, police officers, medical personnel and teachers should be equipped with information on human trafficking and importantly its prevention. Social workers should emerge as initiators of economic projects with regard to empowering of affected individuals. Social workers can play role to bridge communication and raise voice for affectees by urging government to implement and formulate anti-trafficking laws. Ways to fight Human Trafficking Research enabled me to think of some ways to fight against this horrible thing. Talking to many personnels also helped in framing my thoughts. I think individuals need to wake up and understand that there are HORRIBLE individuals out there and on the off chance that you kick back and let every other person take the necessary steps, we won't ever dispose of human trafficking. Until everybody takes care of this, it won't work and the best way to get everybody to accomplish something but my research states few ways to fight this curse. Support and volunteer anti-trafficking efforts. Examine theindicators of human traffickingso you can help yourself and others to identify a potential trafficking victim. Media nowadays is one of a gigantic part in forming perceptions, shaping opinions and managing people in general discussion about human trafficking. Plan and organize a fundraiser, charitable event and donate the proceeds to anti-trafficking organization and well-being of victims. I ought to state paying little personality to the various inconveniences of institution and nonappearance of preventive measure, we should keep making endeavors to complete and pass on issues to light about these laws. We should move toward the end of present day enslavement, paying little notice to how troublesome and long the battle might be. It was a great learning experience for me throughout the period of research. It greatly improved my confidence. Initially I was reluctant to go to victims and authorities and talk to them but slowly and gradually I found out the ways to deal with them. It helped to improve my communication skills at large, my speaking power was improved and was able to put up right question in front of a right person which I think is a key skill nowadays helping in many ways to come up with desired solutions. Freakanomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner
Introduction Different phenomena in human life have attracted explanations from experts and other observers, which unfortunately, have become to be regarded as the conventional truth even when they seem to fail. This paper seeks to analyze an article that describes the different explanations advanced for changing trends in crime, politics and other social factors in the American society.Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Freakanomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The article is termed freakanomics, the authors (Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner) analyze different social aspects of the daily life in the most dazzling way that defies conventional wisdom. The article mainly dwells on the changing trends of crime in the American society. It also uses other social indices such politics and professionalism to underscore the misconceptions that lead to erroneous explanation s for different phenomena in the United States and the world at large. Analysis This article mainly intends to show that some of the expert views which are often held as conventional may be sometimes, if not always false. The article begins by citing the soaring levels of crime that were witnessed in the 1990ââ¬â¢s. The level of crime was rising at rates that had never been witnessed before. The rising trends in crime got experts forecasting a more chaotic future. For instance, the article cites that in 1995, a criminologist named James Alan Fox produced a report that pointed to a sharp rise in cases of teenage homicide over a decade. Similar sentiments were being propelled from different quarters such as other criminologists, political scientists and other learned forecasters. As time went by, it became apparent that the exact opposite of what had been forecasted was taking place. Instead of soaring levels of crime, the country was experiencing unpredicted decrease in crime leve ls. The sharp fall which peaked in the year 2000 was much more baffling than the later days when crime was the order of the day. False predictions were giving way to false explanations by the same experts. According to the article, the sharp decrease in crime levels had everything to do factors such as tough gun controls, strong economy, and innovative police strategies, increase in the number of police, increase in the use of capital punishment, change in the crack and other drug markets, and finally the aging population factor. The authors shrugged off this type of explanation as cheap as all these efforts when were in place when the same experts predicted a sharp rise in crime.Advertising Looking for critical writing on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More According to the authors, the real cause of the drop in crime was the legalization of abortion across the United States. The legalization of abortion which ha d happened in the 1970 has lead to a significance drop in crime in the late 90s. The major step was towards countrywide legalization of abortion was initiated by a woman, Norma McCorvey. She was from Dallas and had already given up two kids for adoption. She was not in a position to raise a child, she was uneducated, poor, unskilled, an alcoholic and other drugs abuser. This kind of characteristics would create unfavorable conditions for child up bringing. This increases the chances of raising a spoilt, frustrated child who may end up in the streets as a criminal. The initial laws had restricted abortion thus creating a scenario whereby it was expensive to procure an illegal abortion or worse still, confer to unfit women the role of mothers. As the authors quote, the forced child raising may lead to a distressful future and further impart a psychological harm to the child. It was argued that a woman who decides not to have a child has a good reason for that, for instance she might b e too poor, unmarried or in a bad marriage. This article cites other examples to show how conventional wisdom leads to false conclusions that mislead the masses. For instance, the power wielded by practitioners in different professional fields may be exploited at times to take advantage of a situation. The article cites, among others, a real estate agent who exploits their clientââ¬â¢s inability to understand real estate matters. The authors also point out the same flawed beliefs in the political arena, whereby rich politicians or politicians who spent more money during campaigns are almost certain of wining. The authors claim that the electorate must have an inner connection with a certain candidate in order to vote for him. The authors do not however sound convincing with this example as indeed money plays a major role in gaining votes, especially in unjust systems where corruption and voter bribery are the order of the day.Advertising We will write a custom critical writi ng sample on Freakanomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Conclusion This paper sought to analyze the article freakanomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. The article is supposed to explore the bad side or everything, thatââ¬â¢s according to the subheading. However, as much as it touches on other matters, itââ¬â¢s more seen to revolve around the crime, its causes and how abortion legalization has helped reduce rates of crime. The article uses other examples to show that what is often regarded as conventional wisdom or expert views may be sometimes false. Is It Worth Partnering With A Book Marketer
Is It Worth Partnering With A Book Marketer Is It Worth Partnering With A Book Marketer? Since starting Reedsy, Iââ¬â¢ve heard time and again that ââ¬Å"what authors need most help with is marketing.â⬠But thatââ¬â¢s akin to saying startups like us primarily need help with fundraising; to me, itââ¬â¢s a startup founderââ¬â¢s job to raise funds when the company needs them, just as itââ¬â¢s a writerââ¬â¢s task to sell his or her book. Sure, help would be appreciated, but going as far as outsourcing? The best startups donââ¬â¢t do that.Of course, I can see the case for bringing on a marketing specialist, particularly when an author is not technically savvy or familiar with social networks and communities. Still, this raises the question: who is best placed to promote an authorââ¬â¢s work? If promotion isnââ¬â¢t done by the creator himself, isnââ¬â¢t there a chance the message will get lost? These are several of the questions I asked author Jonathan Gould, who decided to partner with book marketer Mike Doane for the promotion of his latest book, Magnus Opum.Book marketer: it begins with strategyââ¬Å"It begins with strategy,â⬠says Gould. ââ¬Å"I have very little idea about how to strategize a book selling campaign. Thatââ¬â¢s where Mike comes in. From the very beginning, we discussed my goals as a writer, and the sorts of books I like to write. From that, Mike can not only give me advice on which readers I should be reaching out to but also suggestions on how to reach them. Together we are in the process of developing an overall strategy that should help get my name out and define me as a writer with a distinct style and voice.â⬠Iââ¬â¢ve gotten to know quite a few authors just like Jonathan: they blog on a regular basis, spend time on Twitter and Facebook, do Goodreads giveaways, and write to bloggers and reviewers. But not everyone takes time to assess their objectives with each of these marketing tasks.A good book marketer can (or should) help you identify your target audience, find ways to reach out to it, and measure the results of your efforts in each marketing ââ¬Å"channelâ⬠so you can focus on the ones that work. You end up doing the work (reaching out to reviewers, interacting with readers, etc.), so it doesnââ¬â¢t endanger your brand image or your relationship-building. And you know why youââ¬â¢re doing what youââ¬â¢re doing.Mike Doane explains: ââ¬Å"I think a lot of authors do those things theyââ¬â¢re supposed to do without knowing the reasons why. ââ¬ËI blog once a weekââ¬â¢ is not a strategy, itââ¬â¢s a tactic. Whatââ¬â¢s even worse is not being able to measure the outcomes, let alone produce outcomes to measure. This is my job. Iââ¬â¢m supposed to help Jonathan understand why heââ¬â¢s using the tactics heââ¬â¢s using, plus find new tactics and help him test them.â⬠Essentially, thatââ¬â¢s what a ââ¬Å"marketing planâ⬠is all about, and there is a certain skill to putting one together that not every author has taken the time to learn. That said, there is a vast amount of content out there around ââ¬Å"book marketingâ⬠, whether in the form of blog posts, podcasts, webinars, online courses, or even books. Our initial thought was that there is no reason why an author couldnââ¬â¢t learn this on his own (while in contrast, specialized skills like editing and design can take years to learn and perfect). So I asked several authors on forums: what does hiring a personal book marketer bring that you couldnââ¬â¢t achieve on your own with enough time and effort?Personalized advice, moral support, and an extra pair of legsAs indie author and marketing consultant Debbie Young told me: ââ¬Å"Authors often have very unrealistic expectations of how hard itââ¬â¢s going to be to market a book. Too often authors get discouraged and stop trying to market at all, but with a little direction and encouragement of the kind Iââ¬â¢m able to offer, they discover that actually there is a lot they can do after all, and they are re-enthused to do it.â⬠The degree of moral support a personalized marketing consultant can give you might actually be the most valuable part of that collaboration. The same way a good content editor can help you gain confidence in your craft, a good book marketer should be able to teach you how to promote your book in a more confident and effective way.Plus, as Jonathan puts it, ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s nice to have an extra pair of legs when it comes to chasing promotional opportunities such as guest posts, interviews, or paid promotions.â⬠This touches on the subject of personal VAs (Virtual Assistants), which was brilliantly covered on Joanna Pennââ¬â¢s blog recently.Flat fee remuneration or royalty-share?Of course, this extra pair of legs doesnââ¬â¢t come for free. And how much (or even how) you should pay for marketing help is a slightly controversial question.Jonathan and Mike have contracted on a royalty-share basis. This is something that you rarely see for editing or design services, but is a much more frequent occurrence in narration (audiobook) or translation services. The logic behind it is pretty simple: a marketerââ¬â¢s only job is to generate sales for your books, so it makes sense to index the marketerââ¬â¢s remuneration on the results of their work. However, in nearly every other marketing-related profession, such as publicity, flat fees are the norm. I donââ¬â¢t know of one good book publicist who works on a royalty-share basis. Mike explains why: ââ¬Å"Any author-publicist contract thatââ¬â¢s based around sales is foolish. Itââ¬â¢s like those SEO companies that promise a #1 position on Google for a given keyword. Thatââ¬â¢s extremely hard to deliver, especially on a budget. Publicists canââ¬â¢t promise things like reviews or sales. There are just too many factors involved.â⬠As marketers develop deeper, longer-lasting relationships with the authors they partner with, royalty- share might make more sense for them than for publicists or SEO specialists. Whether it makes sense to the author is another question, and one that largely depends on sales, budget-consciousness and risk-aversion. Mike suggested to me that he would like to see a flexible model where authors and marketers can choose to work together on a mix of fee and royalty-share.This would have the advantage of keeping a bonus element (royalty) to incentivize the book marketer, while assuring that he gets paid a decent remuneration even if the book fails to sell well. There is no guarantee in book marketing and asking the marketer to assume all the risk makes little sense. In that sense, a hybrid model is certainly worth exploring.Follow Ricardo, the author of this article, and Reedsy on Twitter: @RicardoFayetà andà @ReedsyHQDo you have any questions about book marketing and whether it makes sense at your stage to hire a professional marketer? What is academic freedom What is the role of universities in Term Paper
What is academic freedom What is the role of universities in protecting and promoting freedom for faculty and students - Term Paper Example ccordance with the US 1940 statement regarding academic freedom, lecturers ought to be categorically careful to avoid, in their capacity, controversial or contending matters that are unrelated to this practice. These teachers have full freedom to write and talk in the public and put their opinions forward without institutional fears of discipline and censorship (Provenzo, 2010). However, they ought to indicate restraint that they are not all representing their educational institution in any way whatsoever. In addition, academic occupancy protects this kind of freedom through ensuring that all teachers can only be sacked for grave reasons of gross misdemeanours and conduct drawbacks (Walvoord, 2010). This can also apply in the case of incompetence in professional occupancy. Additionally, behaviours that underplay professional respect and those that induce condemnation from the general virtual academic community may be punished. Proponents that side with academic freedom purport that the apparent freedom to enquire by scholars and educational affiliation members is overtly pertinent to the realization of the vision and the general mission of the academy. Additionally, the argue that most academic societies are occasionally targeted for alleged repression due to their apparent capability to control, influence and shape the resultant flow of information in the society (West, 2008). As potential scholars try their best to extend and communicate their notions and purported truths that are apparently non-convenient to most political dispensations and authorities, they may get into risk of repression or vilification, imprisonment and possible loss of jobs. For instance, a North African professor lost his employment after discovering and addressing the fact that his nationââ¬â¢s infant death rate was actually higher than the governmentââ¬â¢s records (Assefa, 2008). Moreover, the contemporary society scholars have come to form a world affiliation, dubbed academic for the

3 Speech Evaluation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
3 Speech Evaluation - Essay Example The failure to include statistics on other brands gives the impression that the problem may not be endemic after all, because only one chain appears to be responsible for the problem; avoiding that store, you avoid the problem, which I believe is not what the speaker intended. The display of money (a hundred dollars) is a good visual ploy to bring the point home about savings. The speaker also employed sufficient research, although the point about monitoring oneââ¬â¢s fast food consumption was not sufficiently made. The closing, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m going to go grab my Big Mac,â⬠was likely an attempt at humor, but it contradicts rather than reinforces the message. All in all, the speaker appears at ease, despite a few nervous pauses to glance at his notes, and in general maintained eye contact with his audience. His face was animated and shows he was connecting with his audience. His tone could have been more lively, but it was not monotonous and is on the whole satisfactory. O verall, the speech was entertaining, slightly humorous, and relatively informative. The opening was a first-person narrative of what turned out to be a Labrador pleading for its life, so it was compelling enough to capture audience attention, and the speaker effectively brings the focus squarely to the welfare of the animals. His research on the law and practice concerning animal experimentation is likewise forceful as it is informative, as it emphasized the gruesome aspects of the use of animals in scientific and medical research and personifies their pain in human terms. What it lacks, however, is balance. The speaker asks the audience to suspend their moral judgment, but at the same time presents information that directly appeals to this moral judgment. To be more objective, the speaker should also have presented alternatives to animal testing, as obviously products and

Religion And Islamic View On Homosexuality Religion Essay
Religion And Islamic View On Homosexuality Religion Essay Explaination:- Lut is referred to as Lot in the Hebrew Scriptures. This passage is an apparent reference to the activities at Sodom and Gamorah. It seems to imply that there was no homosexual behavior before it first appeared in Sodom. This is a uniquely Islamic concept; it does not appear in Jewish or Christian beliefs. The passage also links the sin of Sodom (the reason for its destruction) to homosexuality. That linkage is contradicted by other verses in the Hebrew Scriptures. The Quran prohibits any sexual relationship except in a marriage between male and female. It is advised to take Homosexual as a test of life and suppress the feeling to follow Gods law in Islam. According to The Islam Society of North America, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, said: Homosexuality is a moral disorder, a sin and corruptionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦ No person is born homosexual, just like no one is born a thief, a liar or murderer. People acquire these evil habits due to a lack of proper guideance and education. He also said : There are many reasons why it is forbidden in Islam. Homosexuality is dangerous for the health of the individuals and for the society. It is a main cause of one of the most harmful and fatal diseases. It is disgraceful for both men and women. It degrades a person. Islam teaches that men should be men and women should be women. Homosexuality deprives a man of his manhood and a woman of her womanhood. It is the most un-natural way of life. Homosexuality leads to the destruction of family life. All Islamic schools of thought and jurisprudence consider gay acts to be unlawful but they differ in terms of penalty:- The Hanafite school (currently seen mainly in South and Eastern Asia) taught that no physical punishment is warranted. The Hanabalites, (widely followed in the Arab world) taught that severe punishment is warranted. The Shafi school of thought (also seen in the Arab world) requires a minimum of 4 adult male witnesses before a person can be found guilty of a homosexual act. Since Iranian revolution in 1979, Al-Fatiha estimates that 4,000 homosexuals have been executed in Iran and 10 public executions of homosexuals have been performed in Afghanistan by the Taliban army. Conclusion, in Islam, it is clear that homosexual is wrong and cannot be accepted and pratise by Muslim and there is punishment of Muslim who practise. The punnishment also differ in schools and Muslim who belong to a specific school will undergo the penalty that is warranted br that particular school. Christian view about Homosexual As Bible is the Holy Book for Christians, the Bible had talk about homosexuality in some verses. Below is the example of some the verses:- In the Old Testament, homosexual behaviour is mentioned in the story of the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by God in the book of Genesis (Revised Standard Version, RSV), >>> Chapter 19 Gen.19,1à à à The two angels came to Sodom in the evening; and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and bowed himself with his face to the earth, Gen.19,2à à à and said, lMy lords, turn aside, I pray you, to your servants house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise up early and go on your way.l They said, lNo; we will spend the night in the street.l Gen.19,3à à à But he urged them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. Gen.19,4à à à But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; Gen.19,5à à à and they called to Lot, lWhere are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them [New International Version (NIV): can have sex with them , New Jerusallam Bible (NJB): can have intercourse with them].l The book of Leviticus also mentions homosexual behaviour(Revised Standard Version, RSV): Lev.18,22à à à You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination Lev.18,23à à à And you shall not lie with any beast and defile yourself with it, neither shall any woman give herself to a beast to lie with it: it is perversion. Lev.18,24à à à lDo not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am casting out before you defiled themselves; Lev.18,25à à à and the land became defiled, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. In the New Testament St. Paul writes about homosexual behaviour in his letter to the Romans (RSV): Rom.1,24à à à Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, Rom.1,25à à à because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen. Rom.1,26à à à For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, Rom.1,27à à à and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. Rom.1,32à à à Though they know Gods decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them. [source from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_and_homosexuality] However, homosexuality is accepted by some Christian denomination and the acception of homosexual couple can be catogeries into allows as members, ordains, blesses union and marries. These are acception of some denomiation:- Denomiation Allows as members Ordains Blesses Union Marries Methodist Yes No No No Roman Catholic Church Yes(but may possibly be denied sacraments since it varies) No(celibate homosexual men also not to be ordained, women are resticted regardless of orientation) No No Episcopal Yes Yes Yes Yes(allows Bishops to decide) [Source from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominational_positions_on_homosexuality] In conlusion, most of Chritianity denomiation does not accept homosexually fully and Christian is bounded to his or her denomiation to refer on homosexual. However , in Bible, it is stated in many verses that can be interpreted that homosexual is wrong and prohibited. Buddhism view about homosexual Buddha did not leave any teaching neither about homosexual orientation nor homosexual behaviour. He encourage his follower to examine and test the truth of religious teaching before accepting them; be a lamp onto yourself. Buddhism teaches to do thing that useful and helpful, based on good intention and and freedom from harm. There are some arguments made from basic Buddhist priciples, which is Buddhas Eightfold Path. Second of the eight steps is called as Samma sankappa: right thinking or right resolve. When this step is related to sexual behaviour, it is explained as that it is not allowed to engage with pleasurable activities such as masturbation and also harm another person. Other than that, fourth step of the eight step, Samma Kammanta; right conduct or right behaviour also been related with sexual behaviour. This step is explained as that safe sex should be practise to avoid passing STDs which may cause death, engage with only sex that has mutual consent, and avoid unlawful sex. From here, according to basic Buddhist principle, we can say that homosexual can be practise except if there is no mutual consent or it is unlawful and also safe sex is not practise. Theravada Buddhism is one of the largest division of Buddhism. Theravada Buddhists say that if a relationship gives out happiness and well-being to both parties, then it is positive and can be accepted. Kerry Trembathe commented that Buddhist leaders grouped coercive sex, sexual harashment, child molestation and adultery as sexuall misconduct but heterosexual and homosexual sex are accepted. Kerry Thembathe concludes:- lUnfortunately, it cannot be said that homosexuals in countries where Buddhists are in the majority are any more free from prejudice and discrimination than they are in other countries. Everywhere it has taken root, Buddhism has absorbed aspects of the dominant culture, and this has sometimes been to its detriment. Neither is it true to say that people who espouse Buddhism are themselves any more free from prejudiced views than those of other persuasions. However it is clear that there is nothing in the Buddhas teachings to justify condemnation of homosexuality or homosexual acts. It seems to me that many gays and lesbians, particularly in Western countries, are drawn to Buddhism because of its tolerance and its reluctance to draw rigid moral lines, although of course I have no hard evidence for this. The same principles would be used to evaluate all relationships and sexual behaviour, whether heterosexual or homosexual.l [Source from: http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_budd.htm ] Hinduisme view about homosexual Homosexuality is a controversial issue within Hindus ecspecialy among Hindus in countries where homosexually is accepted generally. The famous Kama Sutra states that homosexual sex is to be engaged in for its own sake as arts. There are arguement is done on this topic against the Hinduisms teachings on love, sex and marriage. In Hinduism, love is an external force which is important to attain Moksha. Erotic desire or Kama in Hinduism is one of the most legimate pleasures on earth, however premarital sex and extramarital sex is prohibited. This is summarise of the arguemnt. Some people does not agree to accept homosexual and these are their points:- Romantic love naturally between men and women and it is impossible for homosexual people to experience this love. Then, homosexual is a form of lust; lust is wrong , thus homosexual activities are wrong. One of the three functions of marriage is Prajaa, the progeny for perpetuation of ones family. A homosexual couple cannot procreate, and thus cannot be married. Since homosexual couples cannot marry, they cannot engage with sexual intercourse as premaritel and extramarital sex is wrong. At the counter part, they have their own points and these are the points:- There is no prove that show love is between men and women in Hindu. Therefore, it is not true. Hence, homosexual couple can experience love and not lust at all time. The three functions of marriage is from Dharma Shastras, books that not binding to Hindus. Prajaa may be interpreted in a number of ways that do not involve procreation at all even if the three function is related to marriage. Thus homosexuals should be allowed to marry. A loving relationship is encouraged to have sexual expression since it is not expreesion of lust but love. Therefore, homosexual is loving relationship should allowed to express their love sexually. Sikhism view about Homosexuality The Guru Granth Sahib, The highest authority in Sikhism, kept silent on homosexual topic, however there are parts of Guru Granth Sahib that have been interpreted that homosexual is wrong. The five thiefs that should avoided by Sikhs; Pride(aHankar) , Anger( Krodh) ,Greed( LobH), Lust(Khaaam) and Attachment(MoH) are statedin the Guru Granth Sahib. Many Sikhs believe that homosexual is a product of lust, hence homosexual is forbidden. In reference to Sikhisms rejection on Indian caste system, Sikhs that born or raised in countries that tolerant to homosexual describe homosexual is the new Untouchables. These Sikhs also believe that Guru Nanaks emphasisation on universal quality and brotherhood supports gay rights. Any alternative way of living is prohibited in family living; one of Sikhisms most underlying values. Most of Sikhs assume that this means homosexual is prohibited. Most of Sikh will try to overcome homosexual feeling by believing it is lust and marry opposite sex person. This makes a belief that no homosexual Sikh. But those Sikh who support homosexual, say that family living value is not only for heterosexual couple but also applicable for homosexual couple. In conclusion, most Sikh do not practise homosexual , however there is some Sikh who support the arguement about homosexual is not wrong and pratise it. Conclusion Religion Acception of Homosexual Islam Not Accepted Christian Depend on Christianity denomiation whether accepted or not and also the degree of acception. Hindism A controversual issue; some accept and some not and they have their own arguement on their acception. Buddhism Alike as Hinduism; some accept but some not. Sikhism Most of Sikh do not accept but a minority people accept it.

Happy Ending
No guts no glory. No pain no gain. Those are my life mottos. I feel that nothing can be achieved by simply sitting and doing absolutely nothing to make dreams come true. Life can be so hard especially when you are not born with silver spoon in yuor mouth. It is also the time when true friends are hard to comeby just because you do not much money to treat them at Kentucky Fried Chicken or Burger King. That is something that I have experienced ever since my family moves to this metropilitan city and I study in the new school. In my new school I study hard to complete with all my fellow classmates who come from all walks of life but most are from rich background. They have all that I have ever wanted in my life but fail to get. They can buy branded shoes and clothes, unlike my worn out Bata. They afford the latest handphones brands with the latest technology but me? There is nothing I could do to be on par with them. So, I just let them show off their fancy gadgets without feeling remors e with the fact that I am only an ordinary student coming from a family clerk. I just feel sad that they act as if I do not have feelings.I do not feel the least discourage since I know that I can also be like them one day if I work hard enough to score in my SPM exam. Day after day, night after night, I do not to do anything else but concentrate on my studies. Spm examination is just around the corner and I have no other wish apart from wanting to pass Spm with Flying colours. My parents are my inspirations. They always remind me to work hard and hange our fate, make them proud as well as prove to everybody that a son of a plain clerk can also succeed in life and deserve some respect. At times, I feel so stressed out that I almost give up and cry. Nevertheless, thinking of my parent's hope and wishes, I would never surrender and that is my final decision. I engage myseld in group discussion, have consultations with my Physics and Chemistry teachers, the two subjects that I am weak a t as well as burn as much midnight oil as possible to atain my ultimate goal-10A+ in the exam. Sometimes, I feel overworked myself but I know I have to muster every single once of my strength to pull through this ordeal and pray that it will end soon. The most awaited moment has arrived. With prayers and good luck wishes from my father and mother, I step into my examination hall with full awareness that I have to do really well in the exam to realize all my parent's dreams and mine. The torturous moments last for three weeks and as far as I am concerned time really flies but I trust myself that I have given my very best for each paper. March 2013 comes I heard on the television that the SPM result will be out today. With anticipation and nervousness I walk to school with my good friend Samah.I cannot imagine getting less than 8A+ because according to my conselor, only getting 8A+ will I be able to secure any scholarship, something which is very important to me due to my parent's inca pability to pay for my tertiary education. The moment Ms. Asiah, my form teacher hands me the result slip, my heart skips a bea. i am cold from feet to toe from the suspense. Then the moment arrives! It is the most unforgettable time of my life. I mange to get 10A+ and my prayer has been answered. Thank God for giving me apportunity to succeed and make my parents proud. That is the reward for my patience and harwork.

The Rise Of Islamic Civilization - 872 Words
Louis Farrakhan shared his opinion, when he stated ââ¬Å"I think that rather than condemning Islam, Islam needs to be studied by those who are sincere.â⬠Knowledge of other religions and understanding of other beliefs is important. People, as Christians, need to understand the basis of not just Islam itself, but its larger role in todayââ¬â¢s society. Islam has not only impacted culture of the past, but western civilization today, it shows similarities and differences to the Christian faith, and has also been perceived harshly in light of the current events around the world. First off, what is Islam? Islam is not just a religion, but it is also a civilization. However, ââ¬Å"the rise of Islamic civilization is a story of faith and confrontation amidst societies in political and cultural transitionâ⬠(Rogers 211). Its story of faith grew exponentially through the prophet Muhammad. Through his influence, Islamââ¬â¢s worldview became clear that, ââ¬Å"there is but one God [Allah], and his prophet Muhammadâ⬠(211), and it marks the starting point of a Muslims belief. Through devotion to Islam, Muslims practice the Five Pillars: faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage. Faith is described as ââ¬Å"the acceptance of God,â⬠prayer is practiced ââ¬Å"five times a day toward Mecca, fasting is custom a month out of every year, almsgiving, in other words, is a ââ¬Å"tithe to support poor and unfortunate Muslims,â⬠and the pilgrimage is to Mecca, which must happen during oneââ¬â¢s lifetime (211-212).
